Get RSS Feed Updates Straight to Your Email Inbox

RSS feeds are awesome — especially if you’re using an RSS client actually worth using — but sometimes they aren’t the best solution. It can be annoying to have yet another thing to check every morning, right?
Maybe it’d be better to receive those RSS updates as emails.
Fortunately, this is possible! You’ll need to know how to use IFTTT, which is a lovely web service that can perform all kinds of actions based on certain triggers. In our case, whenever our RSS feed updates, we want IFTTT to send it to us as email. (Learn more about IFTTT here.)
First, sign up for IFTTT. It’s free.

Once you’re logged in, click on Channels at the top. Search for the Email channel, add it, and fill out your email details when prompted. (It might already be filled out, in which case you can just keep going.)

Next, click My Recipes at the top and then click the Create a Recipe button.

When you see “ifthisthenthat”, click on this to select a Trigger. For this recipe, our trigger will be Feed (which fires whenever a new item appears in the RSS feed).

Select New feed item from the choices. When prompted for a Feed URL, enter the RSS feed you want to track. Finish by clicking Create Trigger.

Now you’ll see “ifthisthenthat” again, but this time click on that to select an Action. For this recipe, our action will be Email (which means IFTTT will send an email whenever the trigger fires).

Select Send me an email from the choices. When prompted, leave everything as is. This will be the format of the emails sent to you. (Refer to the screenshot above.) Finish by clicking Create Action.
