How to Root Samsung Galaxy S5

  1. First, download the custom kernel from here; place the file on desktop and then unzip it.
  2. Download Odin here, unzip the file and install the program on your computer.
  3. Don’t forget to flash the S5 Mini USB drivers.
  4. Run Odin on your computer and then reboot your Android device into download mode – power off your phone and then press and hold power, volume down and home buttons at the same time.
  5. Connect your smartphone with your computer with the help of the USB cable.
  6. On Odin the “added” message must be displayed; the ID:COM field should also be yellow or blue – if not reinstall USB drivers and repeat the steps from above.
  7. From the program click on the PA option and upload the custom kernel file.
  8. Don’t check the Re Partition and Auto reboot options.
  9. Click on “start” and wait while the kernel is being flashed.
  10. When the “pass” message will be displayed and when the ID:COM field will be green, unplug the USB cord and reboot your device.

  1. Download the root exploit on your computer from this page.
  2. Don’t unzip this file.
  3. Connect your S5 Mini with your PC via USB cable and transfer the downloaded file on your phone.
  4. Unplug the USB cord and power off your smartphone.
  5. Enter recovery mode on your device and from recovery select “install zip from SD card” followed by “choose zip from SD card”.
  6. Load the root exploit and resume the installation process.
  7. When done, from main menu of recovery select “reboot system now”.
  8. If a boot loop will be issued, return to recovery and from there select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”.
