How to Fix YouTube Connection to Server Lost on andriod

YouTube has become a part of our daily lives. I watch some videos right before falling to sleep. And I would really get mad if that “connection to server lost” error appears on my Android device. The real problem is, it can be caused by god knows how many reasons. One time my router was dying and for some reason it was not streaming any videos to my Android phone. I’m sure you would have also faced the YouTube connection to server lost error on Android.
I’ll be honest with you, there can be a number of factors affecting the Android YouTube app on your phone or tablet. This guide will try to cover all the major ones and hopefully one of these methods will clear the air for you. There is also a chance that none of these methods will work for you (a very little chance though). So let’s start trouble shooting the YouTube connection to server lost on Android error, shall we?
Time: 5-10 Minutes

Method 1 – Ad-Blocker

If you have a rooted phone and are also using an Ad Blocker, it is possible that it is messing with the video streaming.
  1. Check if you are rooted or not, as this method will only work for rooted devices.
  2. Go to the settings of the ad blocker app and disable it.

Method 2 – WiFi Settings

Another thing which can disrupt your fluffy cat youtube videos are the proxy settings. I won’t go deep into terminologies here and I will keep this really simple. The app uses a port which connects to the servers and steam data to your smartphone. Proxy is kind of the address. So there is a possibility that port is not connecting properly to the server, hence the error.
  1. Go to your Connection settings. There are two ways to do this:
    1. You can drop down the notification tray and long press the WiFi button to access the settings.
    2. Or you can go to your system settings and then gain access to the same options.
  2. Whatever method you follow, you will see the following screen:

  6. Here you will see a ton of stuff. Simply see if the Proxy settings are set to manual or not.

  7. If they are indeed manual, all you need to do is set them as “None”.
  8. Now a new port will be allotted to the app and you will be able to connect to the server.

Method 3 – Double Accounts

Sometimes when there are two Google accounts being used on the same Android phone, the connection to server lost error can pop up. Here is what you need to do.
  1. Make sure you know what Google account you use to access the Google Play Store. You can check the account by opening up the Google Play Store App.

  2. Now that you know what the account is, go to the YouTube app.
  3. All you need to do is make sure both the addresses are the same. If they are not, log into the one you are using with Google Play Store.

Method 4 – Drastic Measures

If all the above methods fails, its time to call in the big guns. This is the last option you can try and sometimes it can work well. All you need to do is delete the YouTube app and reinstall it.
  1. Locate the app in your app drawer and delete it.
  2. Use one of the best uninstaller apps around to make things easier for you. I highly recommend Easy Uninstaller because it also automatically deletes any residual files.
  3. Reinstall the app from Google Play Store.
  4. Run the app to see if the problem is gone or not.

Conclusion

Well I really hope one of these methods have worked out for you. Another way is to install a proxy app for Android and see if it makes any difference. Some ISPs like to block data consuming sites for whatever reason. Anyways if you have another cure for the YouTube connection to server lost on Android problem, we are all have ears to hear it.
